The (Mis)Education of Multilingual Learners, Centering on
Civil Rights Obligations
Multilingual students bring rich cultural and linguistic diversity to
their school communities. What does school offer them that
capitalizes on their talents and strengths as autonomous learners?
By asking simple questions with complex answers, this session will
explain how the civil rights obligations can be used by educators to
self-assess their depth of knowledge and redress so that students’
social and academic trajectories are directed towards successful
outcomes.
With Breakout sessions with Ayanna Cooper, Carla Castillo from the Equity Institute, and Providence and Central Falls Teacher presenting on a Fulbright Group Study Project from Guatemala.
Doors open at 8:30am and conference begins at 9am
